Boxing is an effective way to stay in shape and get a full-body workout! A one-hour session can burn around 800 calories – equivalent to three burgers! There’s more to boxing, though, than just helping you stay fit. Boxing builds muscle strength in your arms, legs, and core! Plus, it improves hand-eye coordination and concentration.
Other benefits that you get out of boxing are:
You will need boxing gloves, hand wraps, a punching bag, and a jump rope. Regarding the last two items, we’ve got those covered, and we have partner stores that we can recommend to get your boxing gloves and hand wraps.
We recommended training at least three times per week, averaging 2-3 hours per session. Some people work out every day for 40 minutes. It all depends on your schedule. What’s important is your consistency.
You should focus on basic punches, footwork drills, shadowboxing, and core exercises. Additionally, it would help if you incorporated bag work, calisthenics, and sparring into your routine.
Start with light jogging, dynamic stretching, and jump rope. Then, move on to shadowboxing, bag work, and other exercises. Finally, finish with a cool down and static stretching.
